Talk about the past wait for tomorrow Never thought we’d say goodbye We always had a blast, knew nothing ‘bout sorrow Never really had to try It’s nice to see you Been far too long We were quite impressive We could do no wrong Missing all the days missing the bright light Girls and beers and loud guitars Living in a haze we’d party past midnight We were just like big rock stars It’s nice to see you Been far too long We were quite impressive We could do no wrong Why can’t we go back home again It’s where we lived a dream Why can’t we lead the way we did We made a helluva team If we had known how the future rolls Would we have changed a thing Or carried on the way we did Would we know that we would still sing

You’re simply lovely, sweeter than wine But I don’t wanna give you my number Pretty hair, your eyes are divine But I don’t wanna give you my number Truth be told I’ve been thinking ‘bout you But I don’t see how you could ever make do I’m well behaved and my secrets are few Would I be embarrassed if I tried to pursue A lovely dress, matching red shoes But I don’t wanna give you my number A sense of humor, you like to amuse But I don’t wanna give you my number Truth be told I’ve been thinking ‘bout you But I don’t see how you could ever make do I’m well behaved and my secrets are few Would I be embarrassed if I tried to pursue I need some help and you’re smarter than me But I don’t wanna give you my number I know you said that your evenings are free But I don’t wanna give you my number

Hey, after dinner, why don’t we go back to my place. We could watch a movie, make some popcorn. Smoke a bowl or we could just grab some beers. It’s a free country, right? Hey, I could totally be sober with you. Well, for a little while anyway. Let’s just have a good time, ya know what I mean? That’s all I’m saying. We’ll turn off the light And I’ll hold you tight It’s gonna be a night to remember Turn down the bed The sun has long since fled It’s gonna be a cold night in December Really, you like baseball? Awesome. What about, um, Star Wars? Oh, well that’s okay. I don’t really like it that much anyway. Is that an Apple Watch? Wow, you’re so high tech. I’m impressed. I really, I really don’t understand technology. Maybe we could put on some tunes and dance in the living room, naked... ok, half naked. Uh, just pretend I didn’t say that. Really, I’ll behave... if you want me to. But you could slip out of that, um, what are you wearing anyway? Is that fashionable, really?

Dream, though you’re wide awake Life will be only what you make Make a few more mistakes You are stuck in the now Dream, as you close your eyes Hope you never have to cry Laugh till you think you’ll fly You are stuck in the now There will be days when you’ll only want to scream If you hold back you may just forget to dream Dream, always hope for more Wait to see just what’s in store As you try to see through the door You are stuck in the now Dream, till the night is done Slow it down though you’re on the run Fight till the war is over and won You are stuck in the now There will be days when you’ll only want to scream If you hold back you may just forget to dream Dream, when you’re feeling blue Believe in things that may not be true Look around for an obvious clue You are stuck in the now
5.
Imagine things You would never do Imagine words That you never knew No matter what you think I’m always in control No matter what you see I’m always on a roll I don’t pretend to be A wise old lonely soul I don’t intend to be Someone that you should know You take the time To do something bad You ask for truth Until it drives you mad No matter what you think I’m always in control No matter what you see I’m always on a roll I don’t pretend to be A wise old lonely soul I don’t intend to be Someone that you should know You say we know each other Fooled me twice It’s like I’m being smothered On a bed of ice This can’t go on forever See it in my eyes You seem to think you’re clever Hiding behind the lies

She found him on the river And raised him as her own He grew up strong and kindly Beside the royal throne A mighty hand would guide him To reveal a grand design Until the right time would arrive There would be not a sign He killed to halt injustice Had no choice but to flee And journey to a new land Though his people were not free He stood upon the mountain Summoned by the Lord The voice he heard came from a flame It must not be ignored His task was more than daunting But now his faith was clear He looked into the Pharaoh’s eyes With hope that he would hear But he saw his heart was hardened And didn’t want to know He shook his head and raised his staff Let my people go He led them out of Egypt Across the parted sea They wandered for the promised land To face their destiny He had a holy vision And he saw we all were flawed He carried back inscribed in stone To share the laws of God

about

Picking My Notes is a mix of light-hearted fun and serious thoughts and tones, with pleasant melodic hooks, fluid chord progressions, and thought-provoking lyrics.

These songs came from a backlog of 122 unfinished songs, dating back to 2015. While there are many more good songs to be finished, these are the six that found their way into the now:

“We Could Do No Wrong” is a mellow, nostalgic look back at the good old days. A jangly guitar, sweet flute solo, and passionate vocal warms the listener’s heart and ears. Notable line: “We always had a blast... knew nothin’ ‘bout sorrow.”

“I Don’t Wanna Give You My Number” is about love life struggles. There is a touch of a country flavor, with a few jazz-leaning chords popping up here and there. Notable line: “I’m well behaved, and my secrets are few.”

“A Cold Night in December (Fun Things to Say on a Blind Date)” is a quirky, upbeat jazzy tune that offers some advice on how to ruin a blind date. As depressing as that may sound, it’s all in good fun. Notable line: “Is that fashionable... really?”

“Dream (You are Stuck in the Now)” takes the listener on a dreamy journey through reality... a place in which we are all stuck. Notable line: “Believe in things that may not be true.”

“Behind the Lies” is a bit darker than the other songs, with a hard-edged, driving blues-rock feel, and lyrics that lack joy. Notable line: “I don’t intend to be someone that you should know.”

“EXODUS (expanded)” tells the biblical story of Moses and his quest to free his people from slavery. It is presented in an epic music style, as the story requires. This is an expanded version of the single, released December 4, 2020. Notable line: “The voice he heard came from a flame... it must not be ignored.”
